Red Cactus Pears

Fruit

Description
This beautiful fruit of a desert cactus is actually a berry and grows from lovely flowers produced on the tip of cactus nodules. At first green, the fruit ripens into a delicious stunning red fruit. Wrapped in a very prickly casing, the rich juicy magenta colored pulp has literally hundreds of tiny edible seeds. Its sweet taste and fresh aroma is reminiscent of watermelon. Pleasant and fruity, its attractive reddish pulp gives a distinctive deep pink color to food and beverages.
